Bipin Kumar Gautam is a Structural Engineer working as a director in Resilient Structures Pvt. Ltd. which is a civil engineering consulting firm primarily focused on building design, structural engineering, and earthquake engineering. He obtained M. Sc. in Structural Engineering (Gold Medalist) from Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University in 2012. He has been involved in the structural analysis and design, seismic vulnerability assessment, and retrofit design of numerous buildings including schools, hospitals, offices, residential, hotel, and commercial complexes. He was also involved as an individual structural engineering expert in many organizations like government organizations, development partners, non-governmental organizations, and private sectors. He was also involved in designing some projects to understand the risks and vulnerabilities of existing critical building structures due to multiple hazards and in the process of making vulnerable structures multi-hazard resilient.

Involvement as a core working committee member for the revision of the National Building Code NBC 105: Seismic Design of Buildings in Nepal is one of the very important contributions to the nation towards resilient building construction. He was involved in the post-earthquake reconstruction project implemented after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake coordinating the technical team to provide the solutions for the reconstruction of private houses, government buildings and infrastructures as well as the retrofitting of private houses and some historic monuments. Participation in the development of the guidelines and training curriculum such as detailed damage assessment, vulnerability assessment, retrofitting of building structures, rapid visual screening of buildings, national building code are his major contributions as a structural engineering expert in the field of capacity building of technical human resources.
